Looking Up

When Jesus Christ performed miracles we read about Him “looking up to heaven” before performing the miracle. Before He gave sight to the blind man Mark says, “And looking up to heaven, he sighed and saith unto Him… Be opened.”

Before He miraculously feeds five thousand it says, “and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.” When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead He, “lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.”

He, being our perfect example, showed us Whom we should turn to for help and gratitude. He is there to remind us to always have our eyes “looking up to heaven” to God and I wanted to depict the Savior with His eyes looking up as a reminder for us to do the same. To look up to heaven for our help and guidance, to look to heaven for answered prayers and to look to heaven always in gratitude for a God who sent His Son to save us all.
